red leaves

Since elementary school, I’ve always been thought that photosynthesis makes plant leaves go green. But plants like these have always made me ask my teacher why they still thrive in spite of not being green.

I never got to ask any one of them from elementary, though. But, the answer eventually came when I got into high school and we dug into science and biology deeper.

It’s something to do with the dominant pigments in plants’ leaves. Or something like it. I’ve forgotten.
